Towers and Trees
When Towers and Trees take the stage, something special happens. There are all the usual suspects: sweat-soaked brows, pumping fists, stomping feet… but there are also an awful lot of smiling faces, starting with the 6-9 musicians on stage. And when the room is dancing, it’s because T&T are dancing too, with infectious enthusiasm. In fact, there seems to be no shortage of joy at a T&T show, and that’s because the indie-folk collective has made it central to what they do.
Towers and Trees began with the simple vision of finding joy in making good music and sharing that joy with as many people as possible. Songwriter Adrian Chalifour teamed up with good friend/producer Ben Lubberts to record out of Ben’s apartment, and one-by-one, they invited their favorite Victoria musicians to contribute in an openly collaborative setting. By the time their first EP was finished, they had more than a record; they had a family of dedicated musicians who share a deep admiration (i.e. “ridiculous music crush”) for one another’s gifts.
With Adrian Chalifour (lead vocals, guitar), Ben and Andrea Lubberts (keys, vocals), Donovan Rush (bass), Dave Zellinsky (lead guitar) and Jesse Boland (percussion) forming the core of Towers and Trees, the group has since emerged from Victoria’s fertile scene on the strength of their infectious live energy, haunting harmonies and earnest songwriting.
