His latest release, The Bearer of Bad News, explores themes of uncertainty, curiosity and spirituality, and took shape in Shauf’s modest home studio in Regina where he spent 4 years recording each song himself.
k.d. lang, whom Tony Bennett calls “the best singer of her generation” is currently touring with two other fantastic vocalists: alt-country/indie-pop superstar Neko Case and Oregon-based singer-songwriter Laura Veirs. This is a trio like no other: lang has deep roots in the “torch and twang” of Nashville, while Case emerged out of the Vancouver punk scene to become a critical darling whose haunting voice inhabited a lushly bleak soundscape dubbed country noir. Veirs is a stirring vocalist and brilliant songwriter with nine solo CDs out (these three artists first collaborated on Veirs’ latest album, Warp and Weft).
